  • Basic Obedience

Basic obedience is the foundation for a positive life-long relationship with your dog. Trainers usually agree on what this fundamental skill set includes, but every trainer has a different teaching style. When you work with Loyal K9, you are guaranteed a trainer with an extensive education in canine learning theory and real-world experience; a trainer equipped to handle much more than the basics, who brings that level of expertise into the most elementary principles of training. Not only will your dog learn the basic commands, but with Loyal K9, you will learn the reasoning behind why we train the way we do and how to leverage these new skills to improve your life with your dog. For us, basic obedience is so much more than sit, down, stay, place, come, leash walking and leave it – it’s learning the heart of how we relate to dogs.

    Puppy Basic Obedience

Obedience training for puppies is essential to their safety and the key to a positive long-term relationship with your new best friend. When is the right time to start training your puppy? Right now! Because puppies are like little sponges, ready to soak up new experiences and constantly learning; so, whether you intended it or not, the training has already begun. Let us help you make sure that training becomes something intentional, beneficial and fun! Loyal K9 Training’s puppy basics focuses on all the aspects of having a new puppy. We’ll teach you all the basic obedience (LINK) commands and cover all the typical puppy concerns – play biting, chewing, potty training, etc. We’re your puppyhood survival guide!

    Advanced Obedience

Advanced obedience builds off the basics by pushing your dog’s skills to a whole new level. There aren’t many new commands introduced in this program, rather it is designed to take the basics your dog knows and put them to work with even more intensity than our basic obedience program. But here’s the fun part, at Loyal K9 we like to think outside the box and all our training is customized to each individual client. This means that your trainer will meet with you to discuss exactly what you want from an advanced obedience program and will work with you to reach those goals. Obviously, we have some ideas in mind about what advanced means to us, but not everyone wants their dog to maintain a 30 minute off leash stay in the middle of a park environment where little kids are running around on playground equipment. Maybe for you, advanced obedience looks more like off leash hikes and learning to stay at your campsite at the lake, or maybe it’s perfect manners at your weekly dinner party where guests leave their plates unattended at nose level, or maybe it’s teaching your dog to bring you a soda from the fridge. Whatever your specific goals are, we’re here to help you meet them, so dream big!

    Behavior Modification

If your dog has a behavioral problem that falls under this category, you probably already know about it and have to remind yourself daily why you got a dog in the first place. We’re not talking about a puppy that jumps on people and chews things (we tackle those things during basic obedience lessons); this category is reserved for dogs with more serious issues like aggression and separation anxiety. At Loyal K9, we know how stressful these issues can be and we’re here to help you and your dog have a peaceful and fun relationship; 99% of the time with our help you’ll be more successful than you thought possible, and if you think you’re the 1% we dare you to call us!

  • Therapy dog working in a physical therapist office

    Therapy Dogs

Therapy dogs are becoming more popular as people realize how significantly dogs can improve people’s health and wellbeing. Therapy dogs are the ones you see providing comfort to multiple people in a variety of contexts like airports, courthouses, nursing homes, hospitals, schools, disaster relief areas and more. These dogs are one step below service dogs in terms of the intensity of their training and their public access rights. But they still have serious skills, and not every dog is suited to the task. If you’re interested in your dog becoming a therapy dog, we would love to meet your dog and evaluate whether he/she has the potential to learn this very important job.

  • Person loose leash walking five dogs at once

    Leash Walking

Leash walking is included in our basic obedience training. But since you decide what you want to focus on in all our programs, we’re happy to help you with leash walking separately. Whether your goal is loose leash walking or a perfect competition heel, Loyal K9 can help you experience the joy of calmly walking your dog without pulling or reactivity to distractions.

  • German Shepherd Dog searching for human buried under rubble

    Scent Detection

Loyal K9 can teach your dog to reliably find the source of a wide variety of odors: narcotics, explosives, arson, bed bugs, mold, etc. We have the skills to train dogs to certify for police K9 exams, so whether you’re interested in pursuing scent detection professionally, or as a hobby with a less serious substance, we can help. Scent detection is one of our favorite training disciplines!

  • Trailing & SAR

Trailing is teaching your dog to follow an odor to its source. The most common application for trailing is search and rescue (SAR) work where dogs are trained to find people. But we can also teach your dog to follow animal blood trails for more humane hunting. Trailing is an extremely fun hobby as well; most dogs absolutely love it and they don’t have to be a bloodhound to excel!
